Movies

Mon Nov 16, 2009, 2:28 PM
Okay so Saturday night I went to see Paranormal Activities with my cousin.
And well, it didn’t quite meet my expectations for 'scary'. It was good but I was expecting to not be able to sleep at all.
For me all the movie made me do was think what did happen when I was asleep. I think the movie would have been scarier had there not been these teens who were laughing through almost the whole thing. My cousin went kicked their chairs, well the two who were the noisiest and they screamed like little girls. My cousin telling…yelling at them to be quiet scared me more that the actual movie.
I did A LOT of research on it before going because I was so scared and thought it would scare me even more that I went in knowing part of the ending. I’m kind of sad that I knew part of the ending and I don’t think I’ll do that for any other horror movie ever again. I believe what made we do that was watching the preview and seeing “ Paranormal Activities is one of the scariest movies of all times” made me want to be sure I wasn’t going to be scared to death (not half to death), which didn’t happen. My cousin jumped when they turned the light on.(They turned on a light that is a major spolier.LOL) Anyways I also saw Pirate Radio which shouldn’t have been rated ‘G’ unless they were trying to pollute little kids minds. It should have been rated 13+ but even that is pushing it because would have to some pretty mature teens. That was a bad movie BTW and not worth paying to see it in theatres or even renting it or buying it. Okay where I live it was rated 14A. Where my cousin lives there trying to pollute minds of little children! Luckily there were no little children, younger that my brother I think. Rotten tomatoes says ‘R’ … LMAO …. Pirates … arrr. LOL.

Anyways here is the link to the 3 Paranormal Activates trailers [link] (Don’t watch it if you get scared easily, the trailer or movie) and yes I know it says it’s rated ‘R’ but I believe there are two different versions seeing as I didn’t see one of the clips from the trailer in the movie.

Now I’ve found some of the reviews for Paranormal Activities. Okay well the site ‘Rotten Tomatoes” gave it 85%. But that’s not the type of review I’m talking about =D.

“This movie is the least scary movie I've ever seen. Toy story was scarier.”
It’s scary but you will be able to fall asleep. And even though (apparently) Toy Story is scarier don’t bring your children to it!”

“I thought that this movie was just OK. A few jumpy parts but not very scary.”
So very true. I never screamed once.

“I hated it... LOL But only because it scared the poop out of me... I went to the washroom like every half hour to wash my hands hoping to miss the really crazy parts... but they(My friends) said I never missed any. Really awesome movie to go to if you want to get really scared and have to get walked out to you car after. Great movie!!”
I got to my cousins car just fine.

“It was definitely a messed up movie. Good, an actual scary movie. Not your usual dumb horror flick. Not for people who are jumpy!”
Change is good? Isn’t it?

“It was more of a comedy than anything.”
Got to agree seeing as those teens were laughing and making me laugh.

“Friends at work told me it was super scary... really the shaky camera work made me feel sick. The relationship between Katie & Micah was cute, and probably what I liked best. It was a little creepy, but nowhere near as scary as my coworkers made it seem.”
Got to agree it’s no where as creepy as what the trailer makes it seem like, with all the comments. I jumped at the part with the comments on it no the video parts, but that was probably because I had it up so loud.

“Slow to start but worth the wait.”
I didn’t notice that it was slow…maybe a little but I think I prefer to know what’s going on before it jumps right into everything. Well I guess it could have sort of jumped right in to it.

“It made me laugh all the way and if you are scared of this you might be scared of anything. This was a very lame movie.”
FOUND IT! I laughed didn’t find it lame, but that’s me.

“I really enjoyed this movie, seriously I wish they had more of these out there.”
Me too!

“I really loved everything about this movie. Even the ending was good! You must see it!”
Sort of, I guess. Just watch.

“Great great great movie! Not your normal Hollywood crap. People need to have an open mind, and expand their horizons. The acting was believable; it seemed just like personal home videos and real. With only a 15000$ budget, I don't know how they were able to pull off such effects. As for video quality the whole point of the movie is for it to look like a home movie, so if you want high def Hollywood crap go watch Hanna Montana or something more suited to all you Disney lovers.”
With the effects I’ve read things saying this was all fake others saying it was true. And the clips used were the real ones. I’m leaning to this seeing as one site said “Thank you to the parents of theses two and the police.” Hmm…Thank you to the parents for allowing us to use the footage and make a movie and thank you to the police for giving us the footage. This could make sense, if it’s true or not, I’m not sure. If it is that would also be the scariest part for the movie for me. There was another comment “The script seemed so real it was like they we’re a real couple.” Maybe they were.

Two more.

“I could watch this over and over!”
Yes! I so could! I’m going to buy it if it comes out on DVD!
“I found this movie to be very scary! The audience loved it -there was lots of screaming and reactions from the crowd (myself included!) one of the better scary movies I have seen.”
We thought we had some screamers in the theatre but all there was was laughter. Maybe if there is a longer one it’s scarier.

There was another comment about the care bears being scarier but I can’t find it :ohnoes:.
I have a feeling this may not come out on DVD especially if it’s real. Two other reasons for it being real would be at the beginning they never put “ Paranormal Activities” and there were no credits.

Now I have to more movies I want to see. “Zombie land” and “the men who stare at goats”!

Um, hope you enjoyed this, I guess I had more but I think you guys have had enough.
